about the project
the match parlor
my matchbook collection started like most great things do—by accident.
i got my first matchbox at torrisi and since then, matchbooks have become my favorite way to hold onto memories. i’ll pick one up after a birthday dinner, a long café afternoon, or even off the ground of a farm in India (for example). over time, they’ve become my personal archive—small, tangible reminders of places and moments i don’t want to forget.
but collecting them was surprisingly difficult. i would comb through reddit or save tons of posts on instagram and tiktok, only to never look at them again, with lists of spots scattered across different corners of my notes app. needless to say, it was a mess and the match parlor is a way to clean things up. it’s a collector-driven archive where collectors can share discoveries, track availability, trade with and leave notes for one another, making it easier (and more fun) to keep collecting.
at its core, this site is a place for people who appreciate small things with big memories. nothing serious, just a small corner of the internet for a very specific kind of joy :)
